Bending Nature A different kind of vampire novel eBook Samantha Stone Jennifer Durfey Reviews

Initially when a friend recommended this book to me, i was like great another twilight-vampire story wannabe. After reading the book, i was glad I decided to take a chance and read it with an open mind. The book clearly stands on its own merits and has the makings of a hunger games type franchise. It had the emotional depth of interview with the vampire combined with the narrative suspense of forever knight. Both excellent books that have done well on TV.The main characters were well developed with good storylines. Yes, there are interpersonal issues but what great story doesn’t have riveting drama. Even Vamps have human problems. I’m glad to see that Ms. Stone decided to take a different route from the tired Vampire romance genre and carve out a niche for herself. It was a very 'enjoyable read, and I can’t wait to read another book in the series.
Bending Nature is one of the books that a reader hates to put down, and loves to pick up at every chance they get. It's rare that a feeling like this can carry on throughout the book in its entirety. This book was well thought out during its creation and one that has readers paying attention to detail, not out of necessity but out of desire. It leaves you wanting more...
I felt that this could have been a great book, but I just couldn't get past the bad editing, rushed story line, and multiple story arcs. It started out pretty good, but about halfway through its like the main characters did a 180. I think with a little more time spent on plot development this could have been turned into a pretty decent series. It's not like a lot of the vampire books out there. Also, there is something to be said about having a good editor. One who knows their stuff wouldn't let the main character be 'week in the knees'.
So, it's a bit hard to do a type of a vampire that hasn't been done. Well, this author has done it. Michael is a vampire, one with wings which is interesting. Not only that, he's a prince, and vampires aren't from this world. They're a different species, more advanced, and of course feed on blood. Get weird when the vamps decide to come to high school all in an elaborate and twisted plan to take over and save the world. And Julie has her place in it all, which became obvious once certain things were mentioned but still it works. Doesn't seem like the story is done, but it's not exactly a cliffhanger ending either. It's different and I like it. It's a book that fits more in the new adult category as while sex is mentioned or hinted at, there aren't any graphic scenes which makes sense being that Julie is only seventeen, as are most of her friends. Nonetheless, an interesting take on an old concept
Different, original and immersive. Definitely a creative read!
Good news for readers bored with the same old I-vant-to-drrrink-yourrr-blooood vampires. Author Samantha Stone has given lots of time and energy to re-imagining vampires as (spoiler alert) extraterrestrials.

Told in the tone and vernacular of a teen or YA novel, the story follows high school senior, Julie, to her after-school job at the museum -- where she, Pygmalion-like, has got a crush on a beautiful manly statue of an angel with outspread wings. She calls him Michael. I don't want to give away the startling opening of the saga, but in due course, Michael turns out to be not a statue, nor an angel, but, in fact, what humans call a "vampire."

Vampire Mike enrolls in high school and socializes with Julie and her friends and family. Things might have gone well enough except that, of course, Michael is not the only being to have arrived from his home planet. His enemy -- and former betrothed -- has come seeking him and intends to force him to do her bidding.

Readers will want to discover all the details and twists and turns of the story for themselves, so there will be no further plot developments described here. The book is suitable for teens as well as adults, and there is minimal bad language. Sex is discussed and implied, but not explicitly portrayed.

Hats off to Samantha Stone for a fresh look at a popular, old genre. It's a fun read for vampire fans.
I thought this book was very interesting and it had an amazing concept. I liked the characters and the fact that each character had their own unique personality. I think this story has some pacing problems overall though. All the action happens right away in chapter 1 and to me, it almost felt like I was rushed into things. I wanted to get to know Julie and her family and friends more before the action really started to happen with Michael, Venna and the secret society. This seems to happen throughout the entire story. I feel like there could have been some time between each major event in the story. Another thing I noticed was some grammatical errors and even words missing in some sentences. Other than these couple of things, it was an enjoyable read. Like I said before, I enjoyed the characters and I like that this book had a concept and idea that hasn't really been used before. If you make a sequel to this, I would most definitely read it. I will share this book with others and let them enjoy it as much as I did.
Such a fun read . I can't wait and fingers crossed for a second one !
