Marked Rebecca Zanetti Books

Overall, I mostly enjoyed the series, so I had mixed feelings about my review of this final book. If I were reviewing the series in its entirety, I would probably average it out to a three star rating, but this conclusion to the series had some issues, as well as a fatal flaw.

The virus plot point got strung out too long and it dragged down the pace, seemed to go nowhere fast, and became boring. I think that having it drawn out the way it was, with the males deteriorating to the point of death, was supposed to quicken the pace and add tension as the clock was ticking down. It didn't do that for me, and as I said, it actually created the opposite effect.

In the beginning of the series, as the world and plot were being set up, there were a lot of battle and fight scenes. That was alright for the first book, but it continued through every book. By the time I read this volume, I was sick of all the space devoted to battles and fights. They became very boring and I wanted more substance, character development, and plot expansion.

That leads me to my next issue. If these people weren't fighting or dealing with a virus, they were having sex. Frequent sex. Pages of sex. It seemed like every other chapter sex. Prepare for a mission, have sex, leave for mission, fight, return from mission, have sex, get bad news, have sex, plot out strategy, have sex, prepare for mission, have sex, rinse and repeat. Every bloody book. By the time I read this one, I had had it with all of the sex. I have no problem with sex scenes, but for heaven's sake, how about more plot and character development.

The real deal breaker, though, was the abusiveness of the hero. This hero was wonderful throughout the series. Yes, he was alpha and a hardened warrior, but he was sweet, honourable, protective and loving towards the heroine. Then in this book, the author wrote him as way too Neanderthal and abusive. He was angry with the heroine for not obeying, spanked her hard as punishment for not obeying, made her sob for a long time while he held her and told her it was for her own good and that she needed a good cry to help with her emotions, and the idiot heroine agreed with him and thought he was wonderful. That did it. A great hero was turned into a macho, abusive jerk. In all of the books, the heroes were very alpha, sometimes almost stepping over a line. The heroines usually asserted themselves and the males were loving , but ultimately the males were too aggressive. This book just showed the aggressiveness carried to the extreme.

The author can write well and this series had a lot of potential. I think that most readers liked it, and that I am in the minority. However, I thought books two and three improved upon book one, but each of the others became too repetitive.

This series is good for readers who like a lot of sex scenes in their romances and who like über alpha males. If a reader swoons when a hero goes all caveman, threatens to spank a heroine, does spank a heroine, and uses sex to show his power over the heroine, then this book is perfect. I'm not trying to be snarky, and I know that a lot of readers do like this book. We all have different tastes and this book just hit the wrong spot for me.

Marked Rebecca Zanetti Books Reviews

I will certainly let all you readers out there know that Rebecca Zanetti is one of my favorite Authors to read. I just love the “Dark Protectors” and the “Realm Enforcer” books. They are imaginative, action-packed, emotional, full of the Men fighting for their Lady’s Love. They are also filled with Steamy Love scenes that make you want to fan yourselves! But the biggest thing is they are filled with Family looking out for each other. These two series are my favorites so far by Ms. Zanetti but I’m reading others and she just has a way with her writing that makes her one of my Favorite Authors and those of you who haven’t read these Series or other books by her really should try them. Keep these books coming Ms. Zanetti!! Thank You!
I am so glad there are still a few novellas left before this series ends. I have grown so attached to all of the characters throughout the series. I have been anticipating this story since book one, and it wasn't a disappointment. Marked is probably my second favorite book in the series after Claimed. I have loved watching Janie grow up throughout the series. (Her relationship with Zane is another thing I have loved watching, from children to adults.) She has turned into a great character that is both strong and wise; the perfect match for Zane. Zane, though he has not had the best upbringing, was surprisingly sweet and gentle still. Things between them began fairly quickly, but it was obvious they were going to be together. I love how these stories build up from one another and that we get to see the full cast of characters in the story.

This series is the ultimate battle between good and evil and I was hooked from page one. If you love paranormal romances that have a lot of action, politics, humor, and more, definitely check these books out. They are quick reads that will have you entertained thoroughly the entire time!

I am really hoping that one day Rebecca will write stories for Sam, Logan, Garrett, and Hope! That ending had me wanting more about her!
