I was just introduced to this author which worked im my favor. I was able to read these books back to back. I was hooked from book one. I could not wait to get started on this read. Let me tell you I was hooked from the beginning. What I like about this story is that I actually felt the pain that the female characters were experiencing, especially Mak. I was on pins and needles wondering when Kalil was going to rescue her. I loved how the real love that they had for each other was evident from beginning to end, never waivering.
I must say there were times that I laughed and even thrown for a couple of loops. There was only one time I got utterly pissed off and that is at the end of this book. I just can not believe that it ended like that. Can you say upset.....
This is definitely a must read!

Lovely Lies 2 edition by Lashanta Charles Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I could not wait for this book to come out only to be highly dissapointed and upset by the end. The beginning kind of dragged on with the whole kidnapping which almost made me put it down but it started getting better. I never would have believed this book would end the way it did, so sad and depressing. Other than that the book was really good, hopefully this is where this story ends.
My initial thought was Stupid book. Made me cry.
That is misleading though.... This is much like having a teenager. I "heard and saw" some things that i could have gone the rest of my life without knowing. I laughed, when I probably shouldn't have; and cried on cue. I knew this book would be worth every dime I paid for it. I was intrigued for a change.
The book was very good but I definitely was not expecting that ending at all. There was a lot not action in this but it compared to the first one.
I originally wasn't going to purchase this book, because after reading the reviews, the ending of the book was spoiled. I still purchased it (months after the release), because I loved Mak and Khalil and regardless I wanted to continue to read their story.
This book had me totally in my feelings. Lashanta Charles wrote a phenomenal book and although I do no agree with the ending, I totally loved this series. The characters felt so real and I enjoyed reading about them. All the unanswered questions from part one were answered. The scenes were action packed and vivid. I could see the MMA fights, the dance routines, and the singing. I felt the characters' pain and honestly I was crying and emotional with them.
Nyeem was psycho, but at one point (when he was semi normal), I was kind of rooting for him to find true love. I thought of his obsession with Makenzyee as wanting something or someone so bad that you won't give up until you get them. He had it bad and he wanted her and he stalked her so much that he knew so much about her that it was crazy. I felt his genuine appreciation and love for her, but I also realized that you cannot force someone to love you and to be with you....then I snapped out of it.
The ending was something I did not expect. As much as I wish it was just a dream and everything could be rewinded, it can't. I can appreciate that the series is completed. As a hopeless romantic who's always looking for the happily ever after, I've learned that happily ever after can mean being happy mentally without fear versus with a mate.
I think this series needs a soundtrack, because all the songs within the book totally had me in my feelings and I was downloading them and listening as I read...and cried.
All in all, this was an excellent book. I cannot wait to read more from Lashanta Charles.
The book has a good plot but it was all over the place. I had to re-read parts of it several times to keep up who was doing what. I hated how it ended but it did make the book more realistic
Kalil and Makynzee, I simply adore this couple.
The sequel oozes disloyalty and destruction. The quote 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer' has never been more evident until now. Nonetheless, the forbidden romance between Kalil and Makynzee continues to blossom. The ending was convincing and most importantly endearing.
One of the greatest love stories in Urban Literature. I will read anything this author pens. She's outstanding.
Makyhenzie really worked my nerves with her stubborn behind. Nyeem/Malik or whatever his name is was beyond crazy. Can u imagine having someone that crazy stalking and kidnapping you no matter what at all cost? Saying they love you and thinking they can force you to love them. Sheesh I can't but when it really came down to it Makyhenzie was a punk and that really ticked me off cause in the end it cost her and Kahlil big time. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a part three cause Makhenzie is really gonna lose her mind if Kalil is really dead. While I was really ticked off it was still an excellent read
