This book wasn't very helpful at all. I passed the exam, but due to other resources I used.If you took a Sociology text book and cut the Glossary out of the back, that's basically what this is. It's not even organized very well - alphabetically rather than by, say, school of thought, or chronologically, which would be much more useful.
If you memorized everything in this book, and used no other resources, you would not pass the exam.

I have just started searching for good books that focus on a CLEP exam in Sociology.
I like the concept of Summary Guide books. A book with the right focus from the beginning.
"Learn Fast - Cover Key Points In Less Time" is the right concept for me.

I am more than thankful to this review book. I think that I wouldn't have passed the CLEP Sociology exam with a great score if it weren't for its help. Every piece of information in this book. is just easier to understand because only the important ones are included. Everything seemed so clear to me during the exam. And I am very thankful for that because I was afraid that I would experience a black out, like what most exam-takers usually go through.

Very good summary. If you don't understand when u start reading, go on google and put the names on it, then it will make sense!
I passed the test.
I just took the Intro to Sociology CLEP exam. I used this book in conjunction with the CLEP Intro to Sociology by REA. My scaled score was 62 of possible 80 (which corresponds to a raw score of 71 out of 100, and also equates an A letter class grade). I got both books about two and a half weeks before the exam. I used the REA guide first because it gives a much more detailed review of the material. The REA also has practice tests that have their answers explained. Once I read the REA book all the way through and took one of their practice tests, I moved on to this book and read a little bit of this book every day during my commute to work. This book is organized very nicely and is pretty much like a bullet-point review sheet for Sociology 101. I really like this book overall and wish more books like it existed for other subjects. It is important to note that on it's own this book might be confusing because it is VERY VERY sparse in terms of explaining the material. But, if you already know a bit of the material (say, if you took a sociology class before or if you've read up on the subject on your own), this is an excellent review source. I didn't have much background on sociology and I don't think I would have passed the CLEP test with this book alone. I also don't think I would have passed without it. So, I would recommend anyone interested in the book to absolutely get it, but only if they are planning on getting another Soc review book along with it.
